My name is Philippa. I am a Mum. I’m not remotely “Super” but I do make supper.

I was never taught to cook (my education leant more towards ruling the world than ruling the roost) but, a bit like being a mum, it’s something I’ve picked up along the way, and because the men in my family (half of us – I have a husband, a son and a daughter) have quite complicated dietary requirements, it’s something I’ve had to “skill up” and to learn a lot about.
My husband has Crohn’s Disease and has tried several quite complicated diets in the decade or so since he was diagnosed. A large chunk of his gut is effectively useless so he needs to be really careful about nutrition whilst at the same time avoiding the many and varied foodstuffs which cause inflammation and do more damage. (Far and away the most successful regime he has tried is the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol (“AIP”) – life changing stuff – and I will doubtless be writing more about that over time.)
Our son is severely Autistic and intellectually disabled, and has sensory requirements when it comes to eating – crunchy, chewy, juicy food gets a big thumbs up whereas saucy, soft or chilled food gets thrown across the room. Despite being functionally non-verbal he is very skilled at communicating his views on the subject!
Our daughter loves everything to do with cooking and eating. This blog is really aimed at people like future her (she is only 6 at the time of writing). She is my Super Girl. (She also drew my awesome Avatar and inadvertently came up with the name of this blog!) I want to help her find her way confidently around a kitchen and be able to rustle something delicious and nutritious up for anyone without too much fuss.
If I can do it, anyone can!
